Six sterling silver demitasse spoons, crafted by Arthur Price of Birmingham, England in 1936. The spoons have a very simple but elegant art deco design which includes a bakelite coffee bean ornament offset slightly from the end of the stem.
The spoons come in the original silk and velvet-lined fitted box.
The hallmark is an anchor, passant lion, and a capital "M". One spoon is illegible except for the silver maker's mark.
Spoon Dimensions: 3 13/16" long and 13/16" wide at the bowl. Each spoon weighs 0.2 ounces
Box Dimensions: 5 5/8" wide by 4 7/8" by 13/16" high.
The spoons were designed and manufactured by Arthur Price, a 100-year old manufacturer of cutlery based in Birmingham, the traditional seat of spoon and fork manufacture in England. The firm, still family-owned and operated, has been innovative since its founding in 1912. It was selected to design and manufacture the silver-plated flatware for the Concorde.
